Empty Notebooks

There is a stack of notebooks on my shelf: moleskins, field notes, note pads, and journals, all empty. I've never sat in a coffee shop to pour my heart onto the page, traveled and kept a journal, or been hit with a great idea that I immediately needed to scribble in a notebook. None of the things I've always thought of when I imagined 'writing.'

Type, delete, type, read, delete, re-write, come back to it, delete it all, start again. The keyboard is far more forgiving.

The process is different than the perception.

Don't let the glorified idea of how it's done get in the way of doing the work.
